A call to holiness... on BART

BART stands for Bay Area Rapid Transit and is the subway system in and around San Francisco.  BART is how we take about 3/4 of our students to work every day and i take BART outside of the City to neighboring Oakland.  This ride used to Freak. Me. Out my first year here.  i had a terribly irrational fear about going under the Bay in a speeding train in a place that is prone for earthquakes.  but since then I have  a better understanding of how it works, and have l.ost my paralyzing fear. (still a little twinge though)

Today is sophomore day.  now i know the aforementioned sophomores in another post but it wasn't the bad part of sophomores that people dislike, but the good parts that redeem them and make them loveable.  so we had just surfaced at the first Oakland stop when our train had been turned off for a moment.  the stopping of trains usually means an earthquake had just happened and there is usually a calm train operator that comes over the loudspeaker quickly and alleviates fears.  Not an earthquake, but we were promised to be moving quickly.
My curious sophomores leaned their heads waaaaay over into the aisle to see what was happening in the car in front of us.  They told me they could see the BART police talking to a man, then taking him off the train.  as our train pulled away, I could see the group standing around a clearly inebriated man.

Texted Erica to tell her what was happening, when the call to holiness was my response:
" :( prayers out to him and the addictions that plague him. ... Hey I prayed with Dorothy Day yesterday. you inspired me!"

I guess we really all are called to holiness.  and it can come at anytime.
